Maybe One Day

Maybe one day, when the earth is scorched,
And the ground is barren.
When I am nothing more than dust in the wind.
Maybe when that day comes I finally understand,
Why I am so empty.
Maybe when I am a collective part of the stars
I'll understand how I exist
Or if I ever existed at all.
Maybe the truth of the world won't be so daunting
When every particle of me is amoungst the stars
I won't feel so cold.
Like a creature of happenstance, never dreaming of love.
Maybe when the sun consumes me
I'll realize what makes me.
When that day come and I think that I am gone
I'll still be here.
Until the earth draws its last dying breath,
and far after it.
Maybe then I'll finally understand.
