Me and you, opposing views

I had a thought
and you had one too,
mine was fought,
and yours I bid "adieu"

Words were thrown,
a battle erupted
thus it was shown
we had both been corrupted

No one backed down,
and it got deadly.
So I let you take the crown,
and so did your argument, one of many

From my idea I will flee,
for your bark is worse than your bite
how simple it would be
if we could both be right.
