Me for You
Who the man was meant to be?
As you as you,
As me as me.
I wake and ache a tired pain,
Awake my bones are in the rain.
To feel left out or drying high,
Is to land a fly and quickly die.
Hard and stuck the gum on stone,
Stuck I sigh a lonely moan.
My brain moves wires buttons down,
And the brain shuts off the hollow town.
The cold has come another day,
Another year or another way.
To escape the dawn with many men,
I can not live it all over again.
I lay up low and rest my head,
And in the song I wake to bed.
I'm the one I'm meant to be,
But you are yourself,
And I am not me.
