I am from hopscotch & sandbox toys
from lavender iron oil & salt water
I am from frosted trees
(white, glisten
painted with frozen ornaments)
I am from helicopter seeds,
the palm trees
whose long gone libs I remember
as if they were my own
I am from marshmallow soup & bangs,
from Ruben and Karen
I am from I love you mores,
& butterfly kisses,
& the settle downs!
I am from children of God,
with testless faith
& hymes lost meaning by memorization.
I am from ice cream-you-scream, & Eckert’s farm.
From smosher PB&Js & pooh bear pancakes
From the fear my grandmother left in Ireland,
to the feet my father rooted to anchor his home here
Under my bed were monster
of whom I tend to with my imagination
to drift beneath my dream
I am from these moments
stubborn before I bub
leaf fall from the family tree
