Melbourne Beach

Ripples of waves crashing, churning the sand
Dragging unwilling treasure up onto the land
Myriads of seashells and tangled seaweed
A chill in the air from the gentlest breeze
Footprints of walkers disappear with the tide's ebb and flo
Nimbly traveling sandpipers scurry swiftly, to and fro
Soaring in syncopy above the sea's foamy spray
A cacophony of seagulls swoop down to devour their prey
The clouds part as curtains in a majestical sway
A red sky is sighted bringing hope of a lovely, new day
A pale moon rises, the sun now obsolete
Lovers kissed by the moonlight are falling asleep
And the cycle of nature, its surging beauty repeats
