Memories in Emerald

Alone in her garden, a solitary guard,
Eyes on the turbulent sea.
The watcher of waves, the keeper of land,
For those gone away or cold in their graves,
For those who have fled to be free.

Stands just a figure, born to this land,
This place full of conflict and war.
Long they've been gone, yet still she won't leave,
A life that she knows, this vigil she keeps,
For a land that will never be free.

Lifting her eyes, towards rolling, green hills,
Her memories now flashes of light.
Desperate to leave, but needing to stay,
Here in this garden, alone on this land,
Only in death she'll be free.
