Memories of Childhood

Legos, Barbies, trading cards,
Who can hold their breath the longest?
Playing out in the backyard
Who can prove themselves the strongest?

Mario Kart and spelling tests
Fighting over Sunday funnies
Chocolate ice cream is the best
Lemonade stands to make some money

Planting gardens, watching them wilt
Playing with kids from down the street
Knocking down the towers we built
Refusing the things I don't like to eat

Riding bikes and showing off
Who can pop the biggest wheelie?
Chicken pox and whooping cough
Eating french fries, salty and mealy

Learning to whistle, pretending to fly
These are the things that I most miss
But eventually we must say goodbye
To those heavenly days of childhood bliss
