Memories of War

The guns have stopped firing the war has been won
By someone's children, a father, a son
The air has become quiet once more
as the soldiers remember what they saw
It was death and destruction of people and places
it's all gone now, take a look at their faces
It's over now they'll be home soon
to their loved ones with tears a-strewn
They will never forget what they saw that day,
the death and destruction that meant four years away
