A caterpillar am I, a caterpillar are you;
together as caterpillars our lives grew.
We lived our lives day in and day out;
under the moon or sun, in rain or drought;
Daily obstacles together we overcame,
until I went into hiding, inside my little frame;
Wrapped in a cocoon without you by my side;
I wanted to bring you in , God how I tried!
In darkness I lived and matured all alone,
'til the day I emerged, my beauty to be shown.
Now in flight I can be elegant and free;
but you are on the ground, not with me.
I tried explaining to you my thoughts and ways,
as the minutes turned to hours, hours into days.
Exploring my freedom, watching you sit;
When will you see the world as I now see it?
