Sitting here on this mid-winter day
My mind wanders off to things far away-
The places you and I have lived
And all the love we've had to give.
The cold wind rustles through the pines,
Carrying whispers of earlier times
When life was full of noise and laughter,
Our hearts both filled with happy forever after.
The house was busy, young voices cheery,
With children playing, and their pets never weary!
The wood stove crackled red and yellow
Warmth and charm; the feelings mellow.
And now, the years have come and gone.
Eight houses it took for our work to be done!
Our family grown and on their own
With no regrets, we're in our cozy home.
Our mid-winter lives in a mid-winter season.
It's easy for us both to see the reason
We spent our grown-up lives together
And will live in eternal bliss forever!
Our hearts are happy as we cherish long walks,
And quieter times, when we just enjoy our talks.
Our wonderful life together we now reminisce,
Every night ending with a much-treasured kiss.
