Mind over Matter

I fear
my tongue
feeling it seizing
with power,
a tight fist closes
over those words
strangling and cutting
sentences short, no verbs
Permission to speak
my tongue hiding
in the pits of my mouth
like a circus freak
Thought
comes and goes
wishing I can pry the words out,
wrenching,
but still the clenching
is the ultimate barrier
An impediment
makes me shy behind all
sentiment
