We cut through a culture in our boats.
We killed families,
Children torn from loving arms,
Faces paled to fit the means of a cruel society.
We apologize for past wrongs
We half-heartedly fix what we reluctantly admit we broke.
We talk about forgiveness,
But we have already forgiven the unforgiveable
We have already forgiven ourselves.
And now you want to forgive in advance
demolishing the remains of what we ruined.
You want to pollute what is left of their home
In favour of solving an issue you created
for the temporary.
You want to kill the earth
To kill the Emu and the Jabiru
The Rainbow Serpent and the Dreamtime.
We’ve taken so much from them already
Do you really want to take this too?
