Mist

I look at you and I see the sky before it rains;
Dull and glowing —
A strange phenomenon howling in your eyes.
I was lost and on fire, and you turned my petals to steam.

It rains —

Everything I thought I knew about you was lost in the storm
Your words, your wisdom —
Gone forever.

You mistook my hurt for hunger,
Giving you fuel to dim my light —
A light that no longer lives.

I go on lifeless;
Dark and alone.
Always looking for rain in a bright place.
Always looking for you.
