Stubborn and at a standstill
Crack and yet the face does not move
'Do you know it now?'

The Sabbath day
Refuses to eat
Feeling weak and peaceful
Off to bed

He lays there
Hands fixed like a corpse
Footsteps towards the boy
'Joe' 'Joe'
She does not move
Begging him to eat

The boy rises and takes
Crash goes the contents
Back to bed he goes
Eyes to the sky

She kneels and gets the broken dishes
She leaves and he does not look
A boy of only eight
Years go by
'Do you know it now?'
'Do you know it now?'
'Do you?'
