Mom, You Told Me

Mom, you warned me to stay away.
Mom, you warned me to leave it be.
Mom, you warned me.

Mom you said it was like opening up a can of worms.
Mom you said it was something you wanted nothing to do with.
Mom you said it.

Mom, I should've listened when you gave your warning.
Mom, I should've listened to your actions-spoke louder than words.
Mom, I should've listened.

Mom, now I have to handle the situation on my own.
Mom, now I have to grow up and learn to say "I'm grown."
Mom, now I have to.

Mom, you told me to stay away from my father.
Mom, you told me he wasn't worth meeting.
Mom, you told me.
