Mommy…

I remember when you walked out the door
Tears streaming down my cheeks.
Telling me you'd be back soon
But you'd always be gone for weeks.

I remember a lot of times
You used to hear me cry.
Pleading for five more minutes
But you'd always pass me by.

Where were you when I needed you?
Where was your warm embrace?
Where were you when I was crying
So you could wipe the tears off my face?

I know I'm not perfect.
I know I'm a mistake.
But couldn't you love me like you love them?
Just for my own sake.

So when you say you want to be mommy again
What am I supposed to say?
You want me to let you back in my heart
So you can break it a whole new different way.
