Monsters are not fictional
They can live in your head
Keeping you captive in a cage
In your own mind
There is no time
To think
The monster is too frightening
I try to flee but the misery, scars, and broken memories pile up
I am alone and this monster is unrestrainable
This has to be a dream
This monster knows I’m incapable
And I know this monster is infallible
I stand up, and I become disoriented and dizzy
Everything is ambient
My anxiety alarms me for I cannot see
Everything in my vision is blurry
This infinite inferno is going to be my end
My blue-gray eyes are vacant now
This monster has pushed me to my limit
My demise
I wipe my eyes and fall into a nightmarish hellscape called ‘sleep’
And my monster kills me more in my dreams
