Moon Colony

The moon is no one's property
The moon belongs to everyone
Poets, lovers, children, outdoorsmen, sailors,
and hound dogs who howl
From eternity born to eternity destined
Barren, pure, and alone

Let's leave it that way please!
No moon-colony garbage dump to come
Abandoned, outmoded space machinery
and toilet paper floating
without gravity
empty soup cans
holy socks and
plastic drink containers

Return to planet earth next time around? Or
Catapult the refuse into outer space

Nice to contemplate when you are gazing
at the stars.
Worn-out underwear on its way to Mars
