Moonbeam

I walked outside tonight
and peered up at the sky.
Suddenly, I was captivated by wonder.
Picture if you will
a million swirling clouds
surrounding, but not enclosing
a shimmering, golden moon.
Clouds passing over the celestial rock
dim its glowing beams
for moments at a time.
Sometimes the masses surround
the circled orb so quickly
that you can barely see its light
Then suddenly the clouds roll away
to disappear.
Leaving the moon to once again
light up the night sky.
I see myself as this moon
with a sky full of clouds surrounding me.
Just when it seems as if
I will never again shed my golden light,
the clouds pass by
and my sky, my life
is full of light
full of hope.
