Mother Why

Hey Mother I learned to tie my shoes
Mother why werent you there to teach me the bunny hoops
I learned to ride my bike
Mother why werent you there to teach me
I started kindergarten
Mother why werent you there to take me on my first day
I got abused
Mother why werent you there to stop him
I got put into states custody and moved about
Mother why werent you there for the court dates
I made the basketball team at school
Mother why werent you there to cheer me on
Aunt Nancy got murdered and broke my heart
Mother why werent you there to comfort me
Mother I won an award in my senior year
Mother why werent you there watchin me receive it
I graduated from high school
Mother why werent you there to share those memories with me
Mother I found out I was Pregnant
Why Werent you there to share the joy wit me?
But the real question is
Mother why werent you there to love
