Mountain Glow

What is a mountain but a step to the sky?
A stool to climb upon and reach twice as high.
A height from which the valleys are seen;
With meadows fresh, and air just as clean.

A perch from which eagles stare down on their prey
Awaiting the moment to whisk them away
A place to retreat when the world closes in
To settle in thought, new experience begin.

Vast and majestic, a symbol of strength
A subject which inspires mankind to great length
A world of nature, so wild and alive
Where only the wise, strong and cunning survive.

This is the rock to which man stands in awe
Where prophets have stood and the future foresaw
We will respect them, who live down below
And humbly bask in their soft mountain glow.
