Moving On

Sound of metal crushing in
Shards of glass fly broken
No one screamed and no one breathed
Ears by silence deafened

Who could know what fate had planned
Their lives to almost end
Nothing said and no more lies
It flashed before her eyes

She sits alone in darkness
And cries for what she lost
Her heart is torn asunder
Knowing she went under

Now she looks at her two hands
That once had held the lance
No one but herself to blame
She wishes that Death came

Stronger now than she had been
She stands and leaves the den
She knows she'll do what she must
To earn their wanton trust
