Ode to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Borders & airspaces closed.
Movement curtailed & shackled.
Schools, colleges & universities shut down.
Learning hindered & obfuscated.
Bars, bottle stores & beer halls in operational.
Soberness returns in equal measure.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) takes over our lives.

All nations under siege, lockdowns & quarantines.
All faces masked, bandaged & wrapped.
All hands slippery from sanitisers & running water.
Vestiges of sanity define our lives.
Social distance maintained as you sneeze & I catch it.
Coronavirus takes over & I hate it.

Infections & deaths skyrocket each hour.
Chasm between advanced & developing nations assuaged.
Blame game takes over as nations fight.
Life becomes hellish & survival unpredictable.
COVID-19 makes life hellish on Earth.

COVID-19 will be gone one day, I know.
Coronavirus will be over some day, I pray.
That day is long overdue for people of the Earth.
