Mr

You told me to wait;
You can't commit to me.
I know in the meantime you
Were checking other options.
You pretended like you cared
And I waited foolishly, loyally
Like a pet waiting on its master.

I knew you checked out my friend
And made an offer
While I still waited on you.
Rather I begged you earnestly,
But you kept making excuses
Everytime I told you.
I wanted certainty and
Not uncertainty that you left me with.
Yet I kept waiting foolishly, loyally
Like a pet waiting on its master.

But a time came when the
Bond between us became
Far too stretched, nearing a tear,
That's when I put my foot down
And owned my destiny.
No more will I keep waiting foolishly, loyally
Like a pet waiting on its master.

Time passed and I kept healing,
And after a while you called me,
Inviting me to discuss our future.
Thinking you had finally realized
My pain, I came hurrying into
Your arms only to discover
You had set up a ploy
To benefit yourself.

How foolish of me! No more.
I will not yield in to your
Cunning paws, seeing as you
Reminded me of the favors
You had done to me. Recounted
Them a brutal number of times.
But no more. I wield my destiny now.
And I won't wait on you foolishly, loyally
Like a pet waiting on its master.

I'm my own master!
