Mr. Sandman

By Crysan

Mr. Sandman
Here I sit and sometimes lay
Waiting patiently for sleep to claim me
Rest I need
To keep my sanity
My book is read
The next episode seen

My eyes are gritty
My body aches
My mind keeps racing
What will it take?
Where is my off button?

Emotions grate
Disappointed once again
Have faith, you say
Everything will okay
Save that for another day
My ears are closed
My heart aches

I beg and plead
Let me sleep and dream
Nightmares, fantasies
I am not picky
Vivid, deep, colorful
REM stage please

Mr. Sandman
Hear my pleas
Sprinkle your sand
And let me sleep!!!
