Mr. Sandman

By Crysan

Here I sit and sometimes lay
Waiting patiently for sleep to claim me
Rest I need, to keep my sanity
My book is read, the next episode seen

My eyes are gritty, my body aches
My mind keeps racing
What will it take?

Emotions grate
Disappointment sneaks in
Have faith, you say
Everything will be okay
Save that for another day
My ears are closed
My heart aches

I beg and plead
Let me sleep and dream
Nightmares, Fantasies,
I'm not picky
Vivid, deep, colorful
REM stage please!

Mr. Sandman
Hear my pleas
Sprinkle your sand
And let me sleep!
