My Bequest

I want to one day leave a legacy
I want to build something that’s going to outlive me
Planting seeds in a garden I’ll never get to see
Wondering who will remember me
We’re forever asking ourselves why
And what happened to “never say die”
We recall the places we’ve already been
Until the day we let our lives begin
Standing there, heart aglow
Crying for those who will never know
Those who will never know the feeling of pride
When diffidence and deprecation, are the only things inside
But when you feel times are dire
Let yourself ignite your fire
Stronger you stand, harder you fall
Everyone will watch as you stand tall
Let your mind never rust
Let your heart never turn to dust
Seize the day and live sensibly
That is how you bequeath your legacy
