My Better Half

It was that smile that captured my heart.
It was that kiss that marked our start.
It was that laugh, those hands, those cloudy painful eyes,
that shred to pieces my masking disguise.
It was those arms that protected me so.
It was your heart that made me feel at home.
The night I truly realized what you meant to me
was, in fact, the night I gave myself to thee.

Emotionally, physically, and mentally too,
that night we made love, I gave my all to you.
I live for the laughs and childish games.
I live for the rush of first love and its flames.
Love is fire. It always burns. It can hurt you and scare you,
yet there's so much to learn.
Love is crazy and wild. Simply can't be tamed.
My love for you simply has no name.
No boundary, no limit, no copy, no label.
To tell you how much, I am simply unable.
I cannot express my love's real amount.
The love I have for you is too much to count!

I have never done this for another man.
So you deserve something that's written by hand.
No card, or recording, but a letter if you will.
This is my way of saying you are still
the love of my life, my reason to smile, cry, and laugh,
Michael Joseph Cervi, you are my better half.
