My Bleeding Heart (Lady’s)

For the footprints
that walked in and you erased,
lament not!
My heart was worn out
by the many chances given
only to be replaced by One
less deserving.
To watch the person I loved
choose so unwisely,
I guess the same love was
to blame for your other match.
We did depart amicably,
with heart in hand,
I meandered with
my small footprints,
never to meet again.
I would lie
if I said I cared not
for your afflictions
of a bleeding heart.
I would wash off
the blood with my tears
were you near.
To love you
and bear witness
to your pain,
leaves me drained.
Smile my Darling,
as the waters lap
against the shores off Scotland,
I feel you.
I feel your sadness
I feel your bleeding heart
as it bleeds like mine.
