My Broken Heart

As Iwake up each day I find it hard to go on.
I can no longer dance to what was once our song.
If only you would have listened to what your mom had
to say. I'm quite
Confident you wouldn't
Be locked up today.
I pray incarceration has
Not hardened your heart,
I pray when you're out
We can make a fresh start.
For you're not the only one
That has to do time.
Your family deals with
The aftermath of your crime. I wish I could fix what's
Broken inside, but I'm
Broken as well a part
Of me has died.
I don't have much left of this
Thing they call hope,
I struggle most
Days just to try and cope.
Will our family ever be whole
Only time will tell,
As for now we sit in solitude In our own form of hell.
