My Brother

I watch this little being that lies beside me
His little chest
Slowly rising and falling with breaths of life
Small, little fist curled under his chin
Though his eyes are closed
You can almost see the innocence through the soft, pink lids
He's curled under the blanket
Begging for warmth, with shivers racking through his slim torso
I pull him closer to me
Sharing the warmth that radiates from the heart under my breast
I kiss his forehead
Pulling the cover up, until it rest snuggly under his chin
I feel him subconsciously wrap his arms around my waist
Forcing tears to prick my eyes
Though he doesn't know it
He just melts the heart inside me
This little life
This little spirit
This little soul just showed me I have the ability to be loved
