My Dreams Are About You

My dreams are about you,
Waiting to snatch me in their claws.
I try to gasp for air, but it's all alright.
Because I don't want to be the effect of the cause.

But it's you that controls my dreams,
It's you that made me this way.
Are you seriously happy now?
After you go and throw me away.

I can't remember the last time
I saw you, heard you, and didn't hold my breath.
I hate to be the one to say this,
But I fear you more than death.

I could live my life right now
Remembering every word you didn't say.
Or I could forget you and make something out of myself.
Like I have a life after today.

I could count all those letters I almost sent.
To the place where you stayed with
Your new family,
That didn't have me in it.

With another kid you'll walk away from. Over and over.
