My Faraway Moon

Far up from the distance she calls me,
unknowingly my heart shines,
my lost fate finds a homely smile,
that moment of gaze still enthralls me,

oh my unnamed torment,
my enchanted forest of light,
the one for whom this heart surrenders,
for without a fight,

though I’ve seen her for a millionth time,
I’m still unknown to that nameless beauty,
my heart still beholds the scar,
of her egregious crime

her scent sweeter than a fresh rose,
her eyes deeper than the river Nile,
I’m still unaware for what I did
to receive this beautiful crime,

for she is my faraway moon,
I see her every night,
though she is out of my reach,
she’ll never be out of sight.
