My Friend, A Queen

I know a Queen.

Beneath her radiant twisted crown
of generational tenacity
lays a smile that shines
like a spring crescent moon
illuminating the path to home.

Melanin runs as rich as her determination.

Smarter than a sailor at sea,
lions learn from her ferocity.

I know a Queen,
and she is my friend.
