My Lament

One thousand years I've waited
And I've walked a million miles;
I've searched one hundred galaxies
For the hand that fits in mine.
I've seen you in a lover's face,
Tried to feel you in their touch-
I've been so close to someone else,
But missing you so much.
I've searched for you among the stars
In every drop of rain,
And every moment wondered
When I'd see you again.
This time almost a world away,
Our travels took us far;
But what destiny had put together,
No circumstance could part.
Then one unexpected moment
When all of time stood still,
We finally found each other,
My endless wish fulfilled.
We've always been together,
And your soul belongs with mine-
Our fate in an eternal knot
And our bodies, intertwined.
