My last night
A bad day at work in a drink in my hand
I was anxious to hear tonight's local band
One drink, two drinks, then came three
The lights and music set me free
The bar lights came on it was time to go home
I downed my beer and grabbed my phone
Someone shouted,"Are you okay?"
I said," Yes I'm fine I know my way!"
Behind-the-wheel I took off fast
Between the lines my car didn't last
The cars became mangled against each other
The victims were a daughter, a son, and a single mother
The lights were flashing and Sirens ablare
The firefighters used tools to make metal tear
Victims were bloody but will be okay
But for me I won't get another day
The choices we make and the chances we take
Some are good, others tempt fate
If I would've just called for that ride
This was the day I should've been a bride

I wrote this a few years back when I was going through somethings. I was just grateful that my experience didn't hurt nobody. Situation inspired me to write this poem.
