My Lost Self

I am lost but I am searching,
No longer am resigned,
To lie awake in wanting,
And never strive to find.
I am lost but I am running,
Refusing to stand still,
In the terribly familiar,
Against my wild, hidden will.
I am lost but I am looking,
For meaning in my life.
Now what is expected,
But what is truly right.
I am lost but I am learning,
What I want and who I am.
I am no longer fearing,
To do the best I can.
I am lost but I am seeking,
For the strength to move ahead,
Into judgement and rejection,
Despite overwhelming dread.
I am lost but I am finding,
I am young and I am strong.
One foot after the other,
I am lost, but not for long.
