My Love

You were my treasure before you were born,
you were my pride.
I knew that forever you'd be by my side.
You always had a smile
and a twinkle in your eye.
You were always so loving,
my sweet special guy.
You always wanted to play so early in the morning,
I'd get a face full of toys without any warning.
Whenever I cried,
you were there with a hug.
You'd crawl into bed with me,
snug as a bug.
As time went on
and we got older,
the seasons they change
and things got colder.
As you laid in my arms dying,
I held you and I cried.
This was it,
the end of my pride.
You closed your eyes as if you were asleep.
I knew then you weren't a love I could keep.
Your memory lives on,
day after day.
To be with you again is all that I pray.
