My Mother

My mother once told me,
"If you don't have anything nice to say,
don't say nothing at all."
There's such a thing called karma,
you must obey by its law

My mother once told me,
"You'll love many before you find the one."
For me, that's a losing game that'll never be won

My mother once told me,
"Friends will come and go,
but family is forever."
That's one I found quite clever

My mother once told me,
"One day I will no longer be here."
That is something I majorly fear

I know one day my mother will go,
As I know in my heart she will show.
All the advice she sent through my ear,
Has made me who I am and one day I'll share with my daughter to hear.
