My Name Is Abraham

My name is Abraham. I am the president.
I wonder what my people think of me
I hear whispers of plots against me
I see a set of dark eyes
I want to be a normal man
My name is Abraham. I am the president.

I pretend nothing is wrong
I feel the darkness coming
I touch my seat's velvet cushion
I worry for our world
I cry for the problems we make
My name is Abraham. I am the president.

I understand people are not perfect
I say we can fix the problems we made
I dream of a world without slavery
I try to lead our country
I hope this play will end and I can go home
BANG
My name is Abraham. I am no longer president.
