My New Friend

Bullied and hated on this first day of school,
Sweaty palms, I was such a fool.
I wish I could meet a friend,
Someone who will stick to the end.

Girl or boy, little did it matter,
But my dream won't take long to shatter.
They pushed me and pulled my hair;
My tears rolled down in despair.

A friend was all I wanted;
I wish it could be granted.
Then someone knocked on the door,
A new student I was not anymore.

Scared and shivering, she sat next to me,
A hesitant smile was all I could see.
The exchange of a pen and eraser,
I knew in my heart, nothing could ever replace her.

Our friendship grew stronger;
Strangers we remained no longer.
