My Old Friend

Ah, Depression my dear old friend
I should have known you would stay with me through to the end
Your warmth and scent have become a comfort to me
Blinding me from happiness that I long to see
Your scent is hypnotic and soothing
Captivating me to your song and wing
Convincing me that this is my life
Now "little voice" hush and give me no strife
This is how it is meant to be
A song that was written just for me
It is a tune I dance to alone
The song that sends blackened chills to the bone
No one understands the tune or words
For them to attempt to try would be absurd
It is as natural as my own heartbeat
To the show I have the only seat
To delve into my world would smother
Those who attempt to help, those called "the others"
