My Only Light in the Night

He was my candle,
the only thing keeping the dark away.
My only light, in the night.

He was my oxygen,
what I breathed every day.
The only thing I needed.

Now he is the ocean,
dark and desolate,
engulfing me whole, not letting me breathe.

Now he is the moon,
millions of miles away from me.
