my safe haven

Nestled deep In the countryside
I step on the gravel and rock and approach the cement steps of the quaint white house

when I open the door there you appear...
your small stature greets me with the biggest smile
you, my safe haven, coddle me into your ample bosom
with your hands cold to the touch

the sweetest of souls,
you always make me feel loved .
every time our eyes met
two souls intertwined

As I see the bright blue sky in the clouds above
I’m reminded of your sweet words of love
When I feel the breeze in the trees
I’m reminded of your sweet melodies.

and even as your memory fades
and you’ve withered away
I will always remember you,
my safe haven...
