“My Shallow Pool”

With pain, I looked in to the shallow pool,
Angst filled, cried out; of course, somehow, I drowned.
With grief, I cried in water, my well’s full.
I can’t look up, drown by thyself; I’m bound.

With fear, I faced mistakes that I had made.
Shame filled, heart broke, of course I hoped to change.
With doubt I feared for me, my path had strayed.
I can’t look up, hurt by myself; I’m ‘shamed.

With hope, I looked into a Saving Grace,
Love filled, heart fixed, in awe of how He saves.
With joy, I praised this Force; light shines from face,
I can look up, cured by Himself, His grave.

Now free from shallow pool with my God’s help,
With peace, I live no longer for myself.
