My Sunset

Where were you my sunset?
Draped across sleeping Ute
In folds of colored silk
A woman of his dreams

Where were you my sunset?
As I slept in my little girl bed
Dreaming of this moment
But not knowing where to find you

Where were you my sunset?
When the darkness stole my breath,
I looked to the moon for answers
And the moon told me many things

Where were you my sunset?
Slipping below the fields
Gold and crimson trails across his chest
Like a feathery breeze.

Where were you my sunset?
“I’m here,” she whispered
Her twilight fading to black.
“I was always here.”
