Mycelium

Do you know how a fungus’ roots grow?
Deep into his host
Where they don’t show

Living, though his host is dead
Undetected, untreated
That’s how it spreads

Trauma is the same
It lives in the bones
Hidden so deep
That nobody knows

But neither can live in the dark for long
Their force is too powerful
Their energy too strong

So once the host has no more food to give
For she has been consumed
The parasite seeks a new home-
He alone must live

Spores release to the air but there is no wind
Roots take hold on home soil
Infecting nearest kin
