Needle and Thread

I take a long sigh
releasing all tension from the week.
I put needle to fabric,
with the gentle lull of a TV show playing next to me.

I smile as I sew,
laughing at the small mistakes
or tangled thread.

It is a gentle laugh,
one that does not come often.

It is only because today is a good day that I laugh this gentle laugh,
but yesterday was not a good day.
Yesterday I cried when the thread tangled.

But today is not yesterday,
today is better.

And no matter how I feel tomorrow
I will remember my gentle laugh today
and I will untangle my thread.
