Negligible Senescence

Today you told me that crocodiles are a little bit immortal
That if everything left them alone they would technically never die,
Just grow bigger and bigger

Some kinds of feelings are like crocodiles
And why do we think of eternal love always as something soft?
Some loves are rough-scaled and sharp-toothed and
all-consuming in a very literal kind of way

Some loves, if left alone, will just relentlessly keep existing
Will just lurk in marshy waters, growing and growing
Some loves have no natural predators except starvation and disease

and maybe she's your forever love
and maybe I'll always blush when I hear your name
