Neon Pool Noodles

I'm standing at the side of a raging river
I spot someone, a friend
My friend is strong, but the water is stronger
She does not notice I am there

I see what others might not, like her struggle
Neatly hidden away under a mask of calm
She noticed I was there, but kept going
I felt powerless

I came back to the river
In my hand are pool noodles
I could help her float
She doesn't notice them
Maybe they're not bright enough

Again I came back to the river
The noodles are neon this time
I could help her float
She doesn't want them
I still felt powerless

I'll keep coming back to the river
I'll keep standing by, however long it takes
For you to accept my neon pool noodle
My offer will always stand
